Lincoln County Hospital is the TYA Designated Hospital for United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust. We offer diagnostic and treatment facilities for TYA patients aged 19 – 24 years.

All patients in this age group are given the options of receiving treatment at Lincoln County Hospital or at the Primary Treatment Centre (PTC) in Nottingham. Patients aged 13 – 18 years will be referred to the PTC for inpatient and outpatient treatment.

Our Services

Ingham Unit (Chemotherapy Day Unit)

Ingham Ward is situated on Level 1 in the main hospital. You can enter via the main hospital entrance or via the Oncology and Radiotherapy entrance. You can view a map of the hospital layout on our main website.

TYA patients receive their treatment in a curtained area next to the main Day Case area. Privacy and dignity is maintained at all times. When you arrive on Ingham you should report to reception, you will then be met by the nurse who will be looking after you and will answer any questions that you have. Most patients will have their treatment whilst sitting in a chair and can remain in their own clothes. Some treatments can take some time and you may wish to bring something with you for entertainment. Wi-Fi is available. You may also bring a friend or relative to sit with you. A selection of snacks, sandwiches and hot drinks are available during the day.

Waddington Ward

This is the Oncology and Haematology ward. It is located on level 2 of the main hospital. You can enter via the main Hospital entrance which is also on level 2. You can view a map of the hospital layout on our main website.

TYA patients will be admitted to a side room if available. TV’s radio and phone are available at all bedsides at a charge. Wi-Fi is available. However TYA patients also have access to a PlayStation, IPad and TV free of charge.

Car Parking

There is a large visitors car park at the front of the Hospital. There is also parking near to the Oncology and Radiotherapy entrance. Parking charges apply. However patients attending chemotherapy appointments can have discounted parking rates. Please ask the staff for further information when you attend your appointments. Visitors to Waddington ward can purchase a 10 day parking ticket which allows discounted parking for 10 days.

Support Services

All patients receiving a cancer diagnosis will be allocated a Clinical Nurse Specialist (Key Worker). The CNS will be your main point of contact for information, support and advice. They will help to co-ordinate your care and discuss your treatment options and potential side effects. You may also be offered a holistic Needs Assessment in order to find out what help and support you need. We also provide fertility services via the Fertility Unit at The Queens Medical Centre Nottingham. Your Consultant or Clinical Nurse Specialist can refer you. We also have access to a Macmillan Occupational Therapist your CNS or Consultant can refer you.

In Lincoln we can also offer complimentary Therapies such as Aromatherapy massage, Reflexology and Hand Massage via St Barnabas Day Care. They also offer sessions on Mindfulness Meditation and Counselling. We also have access to a Clinical Psychologist for further psychological support.
We have had some very positive feedback about our services and are happy to listen to patients and carers concerns in order to provide patient centred care.
