Teenage Cancer Trust

Teenage Cancer Trust is a national charity providing specialist units, expert staff, support events, education and information for 13–24-year-olds diagnosed with cancer, and their friends and families. Teenage Cancer Trust also work closely with healthcare professionals and researchers to lead the way on developing cancer care for teenagers and young adults. 

Young Lives vs Cancer

Young Lives vs Cancer (previously called CLIC Sargent) is a charity with specialist social workers who provide psychosocial support to children and young people with cancer, and their families.  The support that they offer will be tailored to the needs of the individuals and families they support and can include, financial, emotional and practical support.  There is a team based across City Hospital and QMC who can offer face to face support.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity that gives practical, medical and financial support to people with cancer in the UK. Its helpline gives guidance on cancer and advice on benefits. It also publishes booklets about cancer and treatments. Information is available in other languages.

Emotional support for patients and their families

Cancer Research UK

Cancer Research UK funds scientists, doctors and nurses to help beat cancer sooner. The charity also provides cancer information to the public.

Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance

The Childhood Cancer Parents Alliance (CCPA) is made up of parent-run organisations that work together to support children with cancer. They also offer support and information to the parents of children with cancer.

Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group

The Children’s Cancer and Leukaemia Group (CCLG) works to co-ordinate national and international clinical trials. They also provide information about cancer for children and their families.

Children with Cancer UK

Children with Cancer UK seeks to support children and their families to live better with and after treatment. This charity funds research projects at centres of excellence around the UK. It also organises free days out for families affected by childhood cancer and funds practical support to help families.

Ella Dawson Foundation

www.elladawsonfoundation.org.uk The Ella Dawson Foundation works alongside a team of experts to enable young adults, aged 18-30 yrs old, and their families and carers access tailored wellbeing support packages unique to their needs at any stage of their cancer diagnosis within a safe, supporting and likeminded community.

The Ella Dawson Foundation is here to help you live well, feel well, eat well and move well with and beyond cancer.

Ellen MacArthur Cancer Trust

The Trust aims to inspire young people aged eight to 24 to believe in a brighter future through sailing and outdoor adventure.

Future Fertility Programme

The Future Fertility Programme, part of Oxford University Hospitals, is run by a team of doctors, researchers and tissue bank specialists. They aim to help children and young people at risk of infertility due to illness or treatment. 

NHS – Cancer

Advice and guidance from the National Health Service.

Kids Cancer Charity

Kids Cancer Charity provides telephone support and a range of other support services for children with cancer and their families. They offer bereavement support, befriending and self-help parent support groups. Holidays and ‘staycations’ are also available.

Little Princess Trust

Little Princess Trust provides and fully funds wigs especially designed for children. They also provide personal fitting and styling to ensure the wig is as close as possible to their original hair.

Mind Over Cancer

This charity supports the mental health of a young person given a cancer diagnosis between the ages of 0 and 29 as well as their family and support network.

Move Against Cancer

The charity’s main focus is to support and inspire people to Move Against Cancer. The aim is to promote the benefits of exercise/movement, both physically and mentally, when living with and beyond cancer. 

Trekstock

Trekstock gets young adults in their 20s moving again physically, socially and psychologically after cancer has stopped them in their tracks.
