When you are told you have cancer, you may feel sad, confused or angry, or maybe all of these things. This video talks about how you might feel if you find out you have cancer.

There are lots of different types of cancer – and there are lots of different kinds of treatments. These videos tell you about some of the ways we treat cancer.

Where will I be treated?

When you find out that you have cancer, it can be tough. But you won’t go through your journey alone. In addition to family and friends who will want to support you, there are teams of great doctors, nurses, carers and many more who will be there every step of the way.

Where we live in the East Midlands, we have some amazing hospitals and brilliant people who work in them. Many of our youngest patients might need to go to hospitals in Leicester and Nottingham for their treatment. You may also find, from time to time, you receive your care in a hospital than is closer to home.

Different hospitals may offer slightly different services, depending on what you need. Sometimes, you may even need to travel outside of the East Midlands to get your treatment. All will be explained to you and to those looking after you. If you have any questions, at any time, just ask a member of staff.

You are not alone, and knowing where you might receive treatment can make a big difference.
